Amie Allain, Ph.D. joined Family Focus in July, 2009 as a post-doctoral fellow. Her current practice focuses on providing assessment and counseling services to children, adolescents, and adults from an integrated theoretical perspective. This perspective includes interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and play therapy techniques. Professional interests include anxiety and mood concerns, identity development, self-esteem, women’s issues, family and peer relationships, disruptive/oppositional behaviors and parent training, as well as psychological and psychoeducational testing. Ron Boudreaux, Ph.D., supervises Dr. Allain’s post-doctoral clinical work.
Dr. Allain received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston in 2009. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She completed an APA -accredited pre-doctoral internship at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, Texas. Throughout her graduate training, Dr. Allain provided assessment and therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and adults in a multitude of settings, including Houston-area private practices, Texas Children’s Hospital, Northwest Community Clinic, the University of Houston’s Counseling and Psychological Services, Houston Independent School District, and Small Steps Nurturing Center.
In her spare time, Dr. Allain enjoys time spent with family and friends, traveling, buying shoes, and reading a good book. She is currently learning to knit.
