Lori W. Heroman received a B.A. degree in psychology from Louisiana State University in 1994 and her M.A. degree in counseling with emphasis on mental health in1996 from Louisiana State University. In 2011, she completed a fellowship at Louisiana State University Medical Center Department of Psychiatry in Infant Mental Health. Ms. Heroman has been in the counseling field for 15 years and is qualified to work with adults, teens, and children.
Upon graduation, Ms. Heroman accepted a counselor’s position at Our Lady of the Lake Division of Mental and Behavioral Health and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake COPE team for two years. During the following three years, she was a counselor with St. Ann’s partial and intensive outpatient programs. Her work at Our Lady of the Lake focused specifically on providing individual, group and family therapy to clients with severe to moderately severe psychiatric conditions.
For six years, Ms. Heroman was a member of the staff at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge as a Guidance Counselor, and Chair of the Guidance Department. She provided personal, academic, and family counseling services to more than 250 students annually. In this venue, she gained valuable insight into the myriad challenges facing adolescents and the effects of family dynamics on this age group.
In July 2007, Ms. Heroman entered private practice where her previous years of experience have allowed her to work successfully with children, adolescents, adults and families. With compassion and understanding, Ms. Heroman works with each individual and family to help them build on their strengths and attain personal growth.
Ms. Heroman is married with two children.
