Suzanne Jones, MA, LPC-NCC, MSN, PMHNP

Suzanne Jones is both a board certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a nationally certified Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from
the University of South Alabama and her Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Louisiana State University.
Suzanne spent many years working as a registered nurse in telemetry, the coronary care unit, dialysis, med/surg, and psychiatry. Over the past several years, after completing her Masters in Community
Counseling, she has provided counseling services in her private practice at Crossroads Professional Services. After many of her clients voiced frustration over long wait times to see their psychiatric
prescribers, Suzanne decided to pursue an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse credential, believing it to be a more efficient way to address her clients’ needs.
While pursing her Masters in counseling, Suzanne had the opportunity to work in the mental health clinic at Southeastern Louisiana University and in the Career Services department at Louisiana State
University. Working with college students and helping them launch into the adult world continues to be a particular area of interest. Suzanne has also worked as a contract counselor for what was previously the Rape Crisis Center, counseling individual survivors, collaborating in developing curriculum for and co-facilitating a sexual trauma survivors group. She has been a presenter for the Sexual Trauma and Response  Awareness Center.
Suzanne Jones provides psychiatric nurse practitioner services as an independent contractor at Family Focus which offers diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and counseling for the entire family. Her
combination of credentials underscores her belief that while medications may at times be necessary, the real work of change happens in therapy. Suzanne’s training and personal philosophy are holistic in that her approach to care considers the emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and even academic/career concerns of her patients.
